View Powerpoint and TIFF in GMail

by Sujoy on April 23, 2009

No need to download Powerpoint slides before viewing them. GMail now has an inbuilt Powerpoint viewer. Also, TIFF support has been enabled. GMail’s Blogpost reports that the new Web-Based viewer has been upgraded with the support of viewing these two document formats. Ok,ok! we know that GMail previously did have Slideshow viewing enabled.

But with this new upgrade, the functions that are included are Copy/Paste, Zoom in/out, Print to PDF, and above all it no longers Flash. Yayy. So, if you have a Powerpoint or a TIFF in your inbox, and click on view, it would be shown in a new browser tab. The browser tab would offer thumbnail views, multiple slides per page, and even an online editing function (of course, that would happen on Google Docs). So, there you go; no more unnecessary downloads unless you are really impressed by a presentation. For all those who don’t cut it, their life doesn’t reach your hard-drive.
